Forming alliances with different communities is the key to shattering the glass ceiling of survival. Yet how does that work? How do you bridge the gap between people who have a different culture than you? Who has different institutions than you? Who very well may not respect you and has preconceived notions about you? Do you have time to be treated like a little dog and have to prove yourself?
is it feasible to absorb mistreatment in order to gain a superficial audience with the hope of being able to pivot into building a dialogue and trust foundation? These are hard questions that many people in Black communities and cities and states where there is no Black community face everyday.
The differences between Black and Brown peoples are very apparent. The sad fact is that the majority do not get along. Institutions and culture have been a hindrance in being able to broker an understanding for over 60 years between Black and Brown peoples. Yet all it takes is one person who values what unearthing that understanding means.
It only takes one person to get past themself and to take a chance on cultivating a new neuropathway in their institutions and culture. A new thought process. A new way of being able to see that next person that is engaged in this same precipice of change with the goal of just being people.
